West Virginia State Emergency Operations Center 4 p.m. update:
Martinsburg HazMat Situation
CHARLESTON, WV The West Virginia State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) continues to monitor and remains ready to support the response to a hazardous materials release at the City of Martinsburg’s Wastewater Treatment Plant.
Gov. Jim Justice ordered the partial activation of the SEOC after Berkeley County declared a local state of emergency earlier Monday in response to the incident.
Berkeley County’s emergency operations center will remain fully activated overnight. Liaison officers from DHSEM and the W.Va. National Guard are on hand to assist operations
A Hazardous Materials Response Team from Washington, Pa., has arrived on scene this afternoon to provide assistance.
