To give a complete report of weekly activities, this week’s update reflects information for week ending May 10, 2019.

Highlights

 
Swift Water Rescue: 23 members from Hampshire County fire companies received Swift Water Technician Certification.
 
Area Liaisons: Three Area Liaisons graduated from the Bomb-making Materials Awareness Program training course in Anniston, Alabama. This training allows the graduates to instruct businesses, citizen groups, and communities to recognize the signs of bomb-making assembly and how to report these signs to the appropriate law enforcement entity.
 
State Interoperable Radio Network (SIRN): Site upgrades were delivered to 48 tower sites of the SIRN with a completion target of May 30, 2019. The sites will continue using the current version of software until conclusion of the World Scout Jamboree. Software upgrades are scheduled to begin on August 5, 2019.
 
Search and Rescue assisted in two operations: the safe location of two hikers missing in Tucker County’s Otter Creek Wilderness Area and of five subjects missing on ATVs in Wirt County.
 
Grants Monitoring: completed three additional technical assistance visits to subgrantees, bringing the number of visits for the year to 47.
 
Watch Center: For May 1-10, the Watch Center has received 314 emergent calls:
